Overwatch 2 players suspended & even banned for entire season after game crashes or errors in Competitive
Overwatch 2, the sequel to the hit multiplayer ‘hero-shooter’ from Activision-Blizzard, is having a pretty rocky launch stage.
We have recently covered multiple issues like overpowered or unbalanced characters, disappointing matchmaking system or characters suddenly getting locked, among others.
Now, many Overwatch 2 players are facing an issue where they are being banned or suspended for many hours (or even the entire season) after the game crashes during Competitive mode.
Overwatch 2 players suspended or banned after game crashes or server error
According to multiple reports, the Overwatch 2 Competitive experience is currently full of crashes or server issues that are resulting in unfair bans for many players.
Once the game crashes, the system thinks a player has abandoned the gameplay. As a result, they are getting unfair penalties simply for repeatedly trying to play.
can I report a false suspension to blizzard?
I was playing a comp game yesterday and someone left first round in the second round char screen my game crashed and I was suspended from comp for 10 minutes and even had my endorsement level reduced can I report this to blizzard ?
Servers are terrible
Why am I getting suspended for server errors and why can I only rejoin overwatch once the comp match I was kicked from is over? Is anyone else having this problem?
Bans can last from a few hours to the entire season
Apparently, the duration of the bans or suspensions is random even though the same problem causes them. In less severe cases, the sanctions can be around 8 hours.
However, there are some extreme cases where Overwatch 2 players are being banned for the entire season after experiencing a crash or server error in Competitive.
Kept getting a ps5 connection error during comp matches and now I’m suspended for a week. Thanks blizzard.
And then tonight when I was loading into our comp match my game crashed and now I have an 8 hour ban.
Unfortunately, there is still no official acknowledgment of this issue from Overwatch 2 developers. We will update this story as events unfold.
