Original story (published on October 10, 2022) follows:

In recent years, wearable devices have become increasingly relevant. The most popular products in this segment are smart watches and smart bands.

However, there is another type of wearable that occupies a smaller niche: Smart Rings. Oura Ring is one of the most popular devices in this segment.

Oura Ring is basically a smart band, but in the form of a ring. This means that it monitors and collects multiple metrics related to your health and fitness, offering you the results through an app.

That said, at this time Oura Ring cannot be used with Google Fit as it was blocked for accessing ‘sensitive information’.

Google Fit blocked Oura Ring for accessing sensitive information

In recent days, social platforms and support forums have been filled with reports related to the problem. Currently, Oura Ring users are unable to pair their devices with Google Fit.

Google Fit is one of the favorite services where you can record your physical activity and health data. When users try to link their accounts, the app warns of Oura’s blocked access to sensitive information.

Oura Ring Blocked Automatically

I just bought a gen 3 oura ring and am working on setting it up. When I tried to connect it to Google fit it was automatically blocked for “trying to access sensitive information about my account” I tried removing access to reconnect but now it won’t even let me try to sign it to reconnect.

Google Fit blocks connection from Oura Ring

I just got my ring yesterday. I checked before I bought it, and Oura is a supported app in Fit, but when I try to connect I get a notification that Google blocked the app. Pixel 4XL (soon to be 7 Pro!) Android 13, Sept security patch.

It’s unclear what kind of ‘sensitive information’ the Oura Ring is accessing that caused the Google Fit block.

Oura team already working on the issue

Fortunately, the Oura team is already aware of the issue and working on it. But there is still no ETA for the fix.
