Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

Twitter is one of the most popular microblogging social media platforms in the world. Millions use it on a daily basis to express their emotions, opinions and beliefs with others.

If you like a particular tweet, you can use the dedicated ‘heart’ or ‘love’ button to show your admiration. However, some are currently experiencing issues with the ‘Like’ functionality.

Tweets being self-liked automatically

Twitter users (1,2,3,4,5) are reporting an issue where their tweets are being automatically self-liked. This is annoying because liking your own posts is not the most well-appreciated practice.

soo there’s some sort of glitch going on twitter rn and people are absolutely losing their minds bc louis and harry (and apparently many more people) are liking their own tweets.

Making matters worse, when users go to the ‘Likes’ tab on their profile, they notice that the entire page is filled with their own tweets that have been incorrectly liked.

When someone likes a tweet, the ‘heart’ icon on Twitter turns red to indicate that the action has been performed. However, all the self-liked tweets seem to be missing the red icon.

It appears that the issue is not limited to tweets alone but also affects replies, images and videos that users have previously posted.

Many are also confused why celebrities and influencers have started liking their own tweets out of nowhere.

Official acknowledgment

Fortunately, Twitter was quick to acknowledge the issue where tweets are being self-liked incorrectly and is working to resolve it.
