Garmin Connect is a physical fitness tracking tool that lets users analyze and share health-related data from their paired Garmin devices.

It also gives users a glance at their vital day-to-day activities and helps them stay connected with friends.

Moreover, Garmin Connect provides a lot of interesting features to design workout routines, earn badges and even sync with other fitness apps like MyFitnessPal.

Personal records not updating

But lately, many Garmin Connect users are unable to update their personal records through the app.

Today the GCM app asked me to accept / update a new personal record for daily steps. But I didn’t achieve any new record today. It is an old record from last year. I can accept or reject, but if I try to click on the buttons, nothing happens.

I get the same when trying to accept or decline personal records in the app, but the web page works like a charm. First saw the issue after receiving some swimming records Monday the 19th. Running the Garmin connect v. 4.59 on android.

The app has not been recording users’ daily steps and accepting new personal records. Instead, it constantly shows ‘an error has occurred’ message.

The error keeps popping up even when the app prompts users to accept the new records.

Affected users have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but to no avail. Re-entering the data into the app doesn’t fix the issue either.

Official acknowledgment and potential workaround

Fortunately, a Garmin moderator has acknowledged the issue and said that the team is working on it.

We have also come across a workaround that can possibly help fix the issue where the Garmin Connect app is unable to update users’ personal records.

Use GC Web: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/personal-records
There is a bug in the current app version. GC Web works fine.

Hopefully, the developers come up with a permanent solution soon as even the website version doesn’t offer the option to accept or reject new personal records for some users.

That said, we’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments regarding the matter.
