Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 & Z Fold 4 updates, bugs, problems & issues tracker [Cont. updated]

Here’s what this tracker is about in a quick video

Samsung held its latest Unpacked event to launch new key products on August 10. The main protagonists of the conference were the company new folding smartphones: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4.

Both devices share some hardware features like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and a foldable screen, but in most respects they are very different.

Starting with the design, the Flip lineup implements a ‘clamshell’ design while the Fold lineup uses a ‘book-like’ form factor. The folding screens of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 are 6.7″ and 7.6″, respectively.

There are also differences in the cameras section. The new Flip 4 offers a dual-rear camera system with a 12 MP main sensor and a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor, along with a 10 MP front camera.

On the other hand, the Fold 4 levels up with a triple camera system (50 MP main sensor, 10 MP telephoto sensor and a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor) and two front cameras (10 MP sensor on the external screen and 4 MP sensor on the folding screen).

Regarding its batteries, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 cell grows to 3,300 mAh (the Flip 3 had 3,300 mAh) and its fast charge goes up to 25W (before 15W).

Meanwhile, the Fold 4 is more conservative maintaining the same battery and fast charge support as its predecessor (4,400 mAh with 25W fast charge).

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 & Z Flip 4 software updates

As for the software, both models come with Android 12 as standard, but the Galaxy Fold 4 integrates Android 12L. The latter is an Android version with additional features to boost productivity on foldable smartphones.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 does not integrate Android 12L because its unfolded screen is very similar to that of a traditional smartphone. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 display format offers many more possibilities.

That said, both are expected to receive very similar software support. We will be tracking all the software updates, including security patches and bug fixes, coming to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 & Z Fold 4 in this section.
