Need for Speed (NFS) Heat 'purchase failed' error troubles many (potential workaround inside)
The Need for Speed (NFS) franchise has always had passionate fans who have spent countless hours playing the games throughout the years.
Launched in 2019, NFS Heat was the series’ twenty-fourth installment and marked the series’ 25th anniversary.
A new special promotional offer is currently going on, as a result of which the game is available at a 95% discount, resulting in a fresh influx of players in the game.
Need for Speed (NFS) Heat ‘purchase failed’ error
But many Need for Speed (NFS) Heat players are disappointed because they continue to encounter an error that prevents them from purchasing in-game items (1,2,3,4,5).

The main issue with this situation appears to be with the purchase of any item on the market. When players try to buy a vehicle part or obtain a new car, they keep getting a ‘purchase failed’ error message.
To make the matters worse, when the Need for Speed (NFS) Heat players check their balance, the money is deducted from their account, but they don’t receive the item.
This has sparked a massive uproar in the community as people work hard to acquire this money so they may keep improving their cars, but this issue prevents them from doing so.
I was playing NFS: Heat then I bought a car… then when the purchase didn’t go through, I tried buying it again. It didn’t go through… Oh well, ill just go back to my garage who cares. Then when I get there I check that my money has been taken, but no car 🙁 Big L

It just spins for a random length of seconds and gives me failed. Is it because of overloaded servers with the weekend 95% steam offer? I’m playing solo… Not sure if money is tied into server connections though.

Many speculate that the 95% discount offer over the weekend seems to have caused this issue as the game servers are unable to handle all the new players that have joined the game.
One of those affected has suggested a potential workaround that involves going offline and playing in that mode till the player count comes down a bit.

EA hasn’t commented on this matter just yet, but we hope they release a fix for the Need for Speed (NFS) Heat ‘purchase failed’ error soon.
