[Update: 'Unrecoverable error'] FIFA 23 not launching due to Anti Cheat issue acknowledged; performance issues reported too (workarounds inside)

EA FIFA is undoubtedly one of the most popular football simulator sagas in the video game industry. FIFA 23 is the most recent installation in the franchise developed by Electronic Arts.

FIFA 23 brings multiple additions and tweaks seeking to offer the most realistic virtual football experience possible to date. However, it seems that the game is a bit broken, at least on PC.

It’s worth pointing out that FIFA 23 players have been reporting multiple issues in the last few days. We’ve highlighted the crashing and ‘A Better Buildup’ SBC not submitting, among others.

Now, according to multiple reports, FIFA 23 is not launching for many PC gamers due to the EA Anti Cheat system. Also, there are a lot of performance issues that make it virtually unplayable.

To prevent cheating, EA has its own Anti Cheat system integrated into its PC games. However, it seems that FIFA 23 on PC is not launching for many players due to EA Anti Cheat system.

The issue seems to be happening from whatever platform you intend to launch the game on (Steam, EA app, etc).

Still wont launch on PC

I’ve tried so many things, used EA app, origin, and please don’t say use admin… We pay so much money to them every year and this happens all the time. I’m not mad anymore, just sad.

Those players who can access FIFA 23 are also not enjoying a good experience. Apparently, the current optimization of the game for PC is very poor.

Many FIFA 23 players on PC are reporting multiple performance issues like freezing, FPS drops, input delay and more.

Fifa 23 PC version is BROKEN! It can possibly break PC componments!

PC Version of Fifa 23 is BROKEN! My GPU gets WAY to hot IN THE MENU and the game even crashes my PC… It turns off like it has power loss. Wtf?? Graphics look shit compared to ps5, blurry etc., like 720p. Its not my PC it has more than enough power to run the game on 120fps.

While waiting for an official fix, there are some workarounds that could help. First, if you are dealing with the issue where the game is not launching, you can try the following:

You can also uninstall EA Anti Cheat from your PC by following this process:

-Open the Windows Explorer and search for C:\Program Files\EA\AC

-Click on EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe to launch the installer.

-If you want to uninstall it for one game choose the game you want to uninstall and Click Uninstall.

-If you want to uninstall it for all EA games, choose to Uninstall All which will remove all EA anticheat files from your computer, minus the installer.

10:26 am (IST): Some players are claiming that the PC version of FIFA 23 is not launching for them. Instead, they receive an EA Anticheat launcher error following the recent update (1,2,3,4,5,6).

Fortunately, EA has acknowledged the issue and the team is currently working towards resolving it.

If the above-mentioned workarounds don’t help fix the problem, there is yet another quick fix for the same.

This seemed to work for me.
First, uninstall your EA anti cheat then restart your computer.
Open your EA App with Admin Access, and click on Repair on FIFA 23.
