In Sea of Thieves, you can set sail and go on a grand adventure alongside the legendary pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. On your journey, you will interact with familiar characters from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean as well.
Sea of Thieves ‘Pirate cosmetics & emotes keep resetting
However, according to reports, many Sea of Thieves players are facing an issue where pirate cosmetics and emotes don’t save or keep resetting for them (1,2,3,4,5,6).
The affected players claim that after dying in-game and returning to the Ferry of the Damned or after respawning in the game, their Pirate cosmetics (clothes, titles, weapons, animal names) and emotes get automatically reset.
This issue became much more prevalent after the launch of the latest The Sirens’ Prize adventure.
Every time this bug happens, players have to redress their characters and reconfigure the emote wheel, which wastes a significant amount of their time.
@SoT_Support What do you do when your pirate gets all cosmetics and emotes wiped clean? You throw on an outfit and maybe…a change of mood Do we need to continue submitting tickets or is this now a known issue? #SeaOfThieves #Captaincy

Has Sea of Thieves now become “the bug game”? Harpoons, saving ship cosmetics, pirate resets, captain voyages, buying supplies and so much more are just not even remotely working as intended. Where is the hotfix? It has been like this for MONTHS!

Sea of Thieves players have experienced this issue before as well. However, that problem occurred more than a year ago and was later patched.
Issue acknowledged
Fortunately, Sea of Thieves support has commented on the matter and said they are aware of this issue. However, they did not share any timeframe of when it will be fixed.
Ahoy! This is a known issue and our team is currently working to resolve this. We will provide an update when it’s all sorted. Stay tuned and thanks for your patience!

Due to the popularity of pirate-themed cosmetics and emotes in this game, many have found this problem to be a major nuisance since they want their character to feel unique and stand out from other players.
That said, we’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments regarding the matter.
