[Updated] Madden NFL 23 'Face of the Franchise' stuck in contract signing loop (closes or goes to main menu), issue finally acknowledged

The main attraction in Madden NFL 23 is the Face of the Franchise single-player game mode where you can create a player and try to get to the Hall of Fame.

Unlike the previous years where you start as a college prospect that gets drafted to an NFL team, this year your player has already been in the league for five years.

Madden 23 has already faced its fair share of bugs and issues since its launch like high or unrealistic number of interceptions, player cards bought from auction changing to BND and many more.

And now, many Madden 23 players are reporting an issue where they are stuck in a contract signing loop in the ‘Face of the Franchise’ game mode (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

In this game mode, if you don’t extend your contract with your team halfway through your first season, players have to pick a contract from an NFL team at the end of the year during the resignation period.

After this period, players have a choice to sign for any one of the 30 NFL teams. But due to this issue, players are unable to sign a new contract and are stuck in a loop.

When a player attempts to sign a contract, the game will either crash, restart, log a player out, or just takes them to the main menu. This keeps happening across all platforms.

Too bad you can’t continue. FotF glitches out when you select your new contract. @EAHelp doesn’t care as they haven’t fixed this in weeks. New year, same glitchy trash Madden.

@eahelp @EAMaddenNFL Signing a new contract after the first year of Face of the Franchise. After picking an option, the game waits for five seconds and then takes me right back to the main menu. Reinstalled the game and nothing helped. Please help.

Some tried troubleshooting methods like reinstalling the game, verifying the integrity of game files, and logging in and out of their accounts but nothing seems to work.

Players are left extremely frustrated by this issue as they are unable to progress in career mode.

Fortunately, EA support has commented on the matter and said they are aware of this issue. However, they did not share any timeframe of when it will be fixed.

That said, we’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments regarding the matter.

04:25 pm (IST): Here’s a potential workaround suggested by one of those affected that might help you resolve the issue with Face of the Franchise.

This happened to me as well. I could not re-sign with the same team. I signed with a new team and it let me proceed. There are now 3 of my characters in the league 2 on my original team and 1 I am controlling on my new team. (Source)

01:23 pm (IST): In the recent acknowledgement, EA support said that they are still investigating the issue. And yet there’s no ETA for the fix.

10:27 am (IST): One of our readers has come up with a possible workaround for the issue with Face of Franchise mode. You can check it out below.

Possible Solution!!! I have a CB and right after winning the Super Bowl, I changed my settings from Rookie (yes I play on rookie to make the game more fun for me), to All Madden. Went through the contract phase and it worked. Then, I changed back to “Rookie” before I started my new season. Have to play QB again to see if it works for QB or not.

01:28 pm (IST): One of the affected players said that they were able to sign in after trying a couple of times.

So rather than uninstalling the complete game and starting afresh, players should try multiple times and see if the issue gets fixed.

It let me sign to the jets! Just keep trying to sign to teams it will work! And if not then just have to wait tell its fixed (Source)

03:48 pm (IST): A gamer has shared his experience on how they completed the full contract without any issues and what worked for them.

I have done a full season with a WR and a LB and I have been able to sign the contract. The only save file that it does not work for is QB. (Source)

09:49 am (IST): Madden 23 has recently received a new update with bug fixes. However, it does not include any fix for the ‘Face of Franchise’ issue.

05:31 pm (IST): A new update for Madden 23 is scheduled to release in mid-October. That means players will have to wait until then to get the fix for the Face of the Franchise issue.

06:02 pm (IST): EA is now asking those affected to report this issue as a bug on their official forum.
