Niantic’s Pokemon Go recently introduced the ‘Test Your Mettle’ event that brings the new steel-type Pokemons Mega Aggron and Togedemaru for invading raids and claiming other bonuses.
However, it seems that the Pokemon Mega Aggron is refusing to be fed by the players thus making it difficult to complete the event.
Pokemon Go players unable to feed Mega Aggron
Many players (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) are reporting an issue where they are unable to feed Berries or Poffins to Mega Aggron in Pokemon Go.
Niantic Support I’m unable to give a Barry or Poffin to my Mega Aggron to walk as my buddy any help would be appreciate

Is it just me or it just happened to everyone with Mega Aggron with feeding with berries bc I have problems with him on the wild. @PokemonGoApp @NianticHelp

Mega Aggron won’t eat berries, can’t join on the map for battle/walking hearts

Feeding Mega Aggron becomes important when players register it as their Buddy Pokemon that further helps them unlock various bonuses along the way.
But players are unable to strengthen their bond/friendship with Mega Aggron at the moment despite spending the hard-earned berries.
Affected players have even tried force closing, uninstalling and reinstalling the game several times but to no avail.

Official acknowledgment
Fortunately, Niantic support has acknowledged the issue and said that the team is working on a fix.
Potential workaround
According to a couple of affected players, feeding berries to Mega Aggron in AR Mode seems to fix the issue.
Fed mine in AR mode from behind and it worked. Lol!

You have to use AR mode and hold the berry for it
