Facebook is currently the most used social network worldwide. The accelerated growth that it had since its launch allowed the creation of an entire technological empire currently known as Meta.

Facebook users can access their accounts from virtually any device that offers a screen and internet access. You can do it either from a web browser or from dedicated apps for mobile devices.

However, currently many Facebook users are facing a curious issue where they are unable to log out from their accounts.

Facebook glitch not letting users log out from their accounts

According to multiple reports, a glitch is preventing many Facebook users from logging out of their accounts. Any attempt sends them to the homepage of the social platform.

Went straight to facebook twitter to see if anyone having the same problem as me, i can’t log out right now in facebook too it i try to log out it just returns me to homepage and logging out of all sessions also doesn’t work it doesn’t let you.

Anyone else not able to log out of Facebook? I’m not on Facebook that often so I always log out when I’m finished. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still won’t let me log out. Grrr! However, I can log in and log out of the Facebook website using my Chrome browser.

Facebook users are not only unable to log out of their accounts, but also to deactivate them.

I can’t deactivate nor log out of my Facebook account. What’s wrong with you, @facebook?

No official acknowledgment yet, potential workaround

There is no official acknowledgment of the issue from the Facebook team yet. However, there is a workaround which is to access Facebook from a PC and log out of all devices.

If you don’t have access to a PC at the moment and urgently need to log out of your Facebook account, you can try to force the desktop version of the website through the option offered by many mobile web browsers, then log out.

We will update this story as events unfold.

Update 1 (September 16, 2022)

05:35 pm (IST): Facebook app on iOS has received a new update with v384.0. However, it does not include any fix for the log out bug. Also, the company hasn’t issued any official statement for this happening.

Update 2 (September 19, 2022)

12:35 pm (IST): Here’s a workaround suggested by one of those affected that might help you resolve this issue. You can check it out below.

Close out the app completely, open your phone settings, click on apps, click on Facebook, clear the cookies and cache, press force stop on the app, reopen & enjoy.
