Currently there are many apps and social platforms available with different approaches and audiences. Some of these services follow the traditional path, while others offer a different approach to interacting with other users.

Most social platforms are based on a user profile and a feed where people will get content from their added contacts or followed pages. But that is not the case with Yik Yak.

Yik Yak social platform operation is based on discussion boards where you can participate anonymously. Also, you will only be able to interact with posts from users that are within a 5-mile radius.

However, currently many Yik Yak users are unable to use the app as it is not working due to an error message that says ‘Your app is out of date’.

Yik Yak not working or ‘Your app is out of date’

According to multiple reports, many Yik Yak users are getting ‘Your app is out of date’ error message when accessing the app. But they do not find any updates available for the app when they check the Play Store.

Android version just said it’s out of date

I tried to load the app and it is telling me it’s out of date. I tried reinstalling it and nothing. I even updated it. It says the latest update was released on Sunday. Idk what is going on?

Most of the reports related to the issue seem to come from Android users. Also, it has been present for several hours on an intermittent basis, and not even reinstalling the app fixes the bug.

There is still no official acknowledgment of the problem from the Yik Yak team. But we will be monitoring the situation to update this story as new relevant developments emerge.
