New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on September 13, 2022) follows:
Apple’s just-released iOS 16 gives your iPhone’s lock screen a complete renovation and brings new features such as editing and recalling sent texts on iMessage.
This version of the operating system also brings the highly anticipated battery percentage feature. Just like the name suggests, the feature lets users toggle the exact battery percentage within the designated battery icon.
Battery percentage not showing on iOS 16
However, it seems that this feature isn’t available on every iPhone model with a notch (iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini).

I saw that everything but the XR, 11, 12 mini, and 13 mini are now able to show battery percentage. Why can’t those models show it?

Currently, iOS 16 lets iPhone users toggle the battery percentage on or off. When the phone is not charging, they see the normal battery icon with the percentage number inside. This icon then changes color depending on the battery percentage.
However, this feature isn’t appearing for all iPhone users. Many are confused as to why they can’t find and enable the battery percentage option on their phone.
Apparently, Apple has intentionally decided not to bring this feature to some models. According to 9to5Mac, the battery percentage feature is only available for these models:
- iPhone 13/Pro/Pro Max
- iPhone 12/Pro/Pro Max
- iPhone 11/Pro/Pro Max
- iPhone XS and XS Max
- iPhone X
We hope that Apple brings the battery percentage feature to the remainder of the notched iPhone models like the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini soon.
That said, we will keep an eye out on the latest developments regarding this matter and inform you as and when anything noteworthy comes up.
