Arlo Technologies is an American camera brand that makes wireless HD and 4K security cameras, doorbells, and smart lighting.

Many people manage their Arlo smart home devices via the Arlo app which is available for both iOS as well as Android devices.

Arlo security camera ‘Live View’ not working

But according to reports, some Arlo users are facing an issue where the security camera ‘Live View’ is not working on their iOS devices (1,2,3,4,5).

This is an issue of serious concern because ‘Live View’ is meant to help users keep an eye on the location where their security cameras are installed in real-time.

There have been numerous reports regarding this problem where users are unable to watch the live stream of their cameras using the ‘Live View’ feature.

However, some claim that the cameras can detect motion, record video as usual, and even send out notifications without a hitch.

Many users say that the live stream was working as intended prior to them installing the iOS 16 update on their devices.

Hey, mine are doing the same thing. I’ve gone through all of the suggested steps and still no streaming. I’m also on iOS. Powered on and off my device and still no joy. Let me know if you figure it out.

I have 2 Arlo Pro 3 cameras that stream in 2k. Both are connected to an Arlo Base Station and have always streamed 4k. I have just upgraded my iPhone to iOS 16 and cameras that used to stream in 2k on the same local network, don’t stream at all when 2k is turned on as an option. When 2k is turned off, the cameras stream. Even on other devices that haven’t had the iOS upgraded, 2k video no longer works. Anyone else having this issue?

It seems this issue isn’t entirely new as there are reports from the past that suggest that users faced the same problem (1,2,3,4).

I have 4 Alro Ultras and 4 Arlo pros. All cameras are recording as they should but when I hit “play” to see a live view of the Arlo ultra cameras, it says connecting for a split second and immediately stops. The “play” logo pops back up and I am not able to see a live view for the Ultra’s. They are recording correctly but it is impossible to get a live view.

Issue acknowledged

Fortunately, an Arlo community manager acknowledged this issue and said that they are working on it. However, there is still no ETA for the solution.

Potential workaround

Meanwhile, there is a method that could address the problem before the official fix arrives. Basically, you need to turn the local 4K live streaming off.

Turning off local 4K live streaming allowed me to view the live feed again. I’m also having issues with mode schedules since the iOS 16 update.
