Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 10, 2022) follows:

Online microblogging service and social networking site, Twitter, is one of the most popular social platforms in the world.

Twitter keeps users updated with the help of its ‘Trending topics’ feature. Users mostly find the trending hashtags or relevant news based on their preferences as identified by Twitter’s algorithm.

That said, it becomes quite unpleasant when users stop gaining access to their Twitter accounts.

Recently, many users began reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) an issue where they are unable to log into their accounts. Twitter is sending expired verification codes to its users repeatedly.

This issue has left many users utterly frustrated. We’ve added a few reports below for reference:

My Twitter account got limited for 12 hours and I needed to verify my email in order to gain access to my account again. My 12 hours has long since passed but I cannot verify my email for the life of me because Twitter continuously sends me expired codes. I reached the limit for how many codes I could be sent and it told me to try again later and I ended up having to wait a whole day. Now that it’s letting me try again it continues to send me expired verification codes. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Soon after users began reporting that the verification codes are expired, Twitter started serving some of its users with an error message that reads:

Due to a technical issue, we could not complete this request. Please try again
Source

Official acknowledgment

The Twitter team is aware of the issue and is investigating the same, but there is no ETA for a fix yet.

Unfortunately, we haven’t come across any workarounds that can help mitigate the issue with Twitter sending expired verification codes. You’ll have to wait at least until the team comes up with a fix.

That said, we will keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article as and when anything noteworthy comes up.

Update 1 (September 14, 2022)

07:20 pm (IST): It has been over a month since the issue was acknowledged by Twitter but users (1,2,3) are still reporting issues related to Email verification.

Update 2 (October 11, 2022)

12:30 pm (IST): It appears that this issue has now been resolved as one of our readers allegedly received a valid Twitter verification code.

Finally, they seem to have addressed the situation. Been about a month and I tried again. This time the verification code worked like it was supposed to. Give it a try now and see if you’re able to access your account now.
