Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 10, 2022) follows:

Set in 9th century England, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an action role-playing video game. It is the twelfth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series developed by Ubisoft.

This single-player video game is available on various platforms like Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows, and so on.

That said, a bug with the Balor boss in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is troubling many players (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) lately as he comes undefeatable or immortal.

Every time Balor is defeated, the ‘stun attack’ animation starts to play which appears hitched after Eivor lands. Balor then lies dead while continuing to talk.

He also starts attacking without the sword sometimes. We’ve added a few reports below for reference:

@UbisoftSupport @Ubisoft @Ubisoft_Spain @UbisoftLatam @assassinsspain The battle against “Balor” from AC Valhalla, from the “Wrath of Druids” is bug, can’t die. We’ve been waiting for a fix for 6 days! I’ve paid for something I can’t have! In the end I ask for a refund of the dlc

In the boss fight with Balor in the children of Danu, after I defeat the boos, nothing happens, he drops down, and nothing.
I shoot the arrow inside of him, he wakes up and he doesn’t have his sword and he doesn’t get any damage and I also don’t get any damage of him, I changed my weapons, I reload the game and it did not fix the issue, please help me, thank you.

An affected gamer took to the Ubisoft discussion forum to raise the issue where Balor starts swinging his sword that’s invisible even after being technically defeated.

Official acknowledgment and potential workarounds

Fortunately, Ubisoft’s support team took immediate cognizance of the issue where Balor is undefeatable. The team further assured the players that it is working towards a resolution.

Thank you for adding your report, we are aware of instances of this occurring on multiple platforms.

Moreover, we came across a workaround that might help players defeat the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Balor. It involves reloading a previous save and not completing the mission until the update comes out.

Another almost similar workaround requires gamers to load the game where they previously last saved it.

I can’t get past the bug either but what u can do so you can play the game is when it was you to continue or w.e on the open screen go to load and load a save right before the save where your stuck fighting him. That way you can continue playing the game and when they do fix that bug you can just load that saved game.

Rest assured, we will be updating this space when Assassin’s Creed Valhalla developers fix the issue where Balor is undefeatable or invincible.

Update 06 (September 05, 2022)

06:29 pm (IST): Below is a workaround that might help you resolve the Balor glitch. You can try and see if it helps.

Workaround: Oh my gosh after many attempts I replaced all my weapons and armor with one’s that had no ruins ( don’t know if that made the difference) and some how it worked. Yay. (Source)

Update 07 (September 07, 2022)

06:02 pm (IST): A Redditor has suggested a workaround where players need to constantly move the camera in all directions once the boss and the player character get stuck after attacking them with a sword.

Update 08 (September 12, 2022)

12:08 pm (IST): Here’s a YouTube video that shows steps to defeat the Balor boss. You can try this as a potential workaround and see if it helps.
