Destiny 2 is a very diverse game that allows players to create their own variations of character builds and weapons. Some characters are stronger for melee (short-range) attacks while others are for magical or long-range fights.

Heavy Handed is a mod that can be combined with various abilities to attack enemies in the game. Also, every time a player uses melee energy, they will regain half of the used energy with the Heavy Handed Mod.

Destiny 2 ‘Heavy Handed’ mod not working

However, many Destiny 2 players have been reporting an issue where the ‘Heavy Handed’ mod is not working with melee abilities (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

According to multiple reports, the issue primarily affects the Warlock character’s Lightning Surge abilities. But many have been complaining about the same problem with other abilities like Ballistic Slam as well.

All melee attacks can benefit from Heavy Handed mod provided they’re at 1 stack of Charged with Light. Unfortunately, the Heavy Handed mod doesn’t seem to consider Lightning Surge a melee attack.

In some cases, when the Heavy Handed mod works, the melee energy returned to the players is very inconsistent. This issue seems to have started after the recent Destiny 2 season 18 update.

@BungieHelp I’ve noticed that the Warlock Arc Aspect “Lightning Surge” doesn’t seem to work with the Heavy Handed charged with light mod. Is this intentional or a bug?

Unfortunately, Bungie is yet to acknowledge these issues related to ‘Heavy Handed’ not working on Destiny 2 and there seems to be no workaround at the moment either.

As always, we will monitor the situation and update this space as soon as we discover more information, so make sure you stay tuned.
