New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 31, 2022) follows:

The newest edition in the series, Madden 23, has made a significant effort to upgrade game mechanics such as tackling, passing, and defense.

Alongside this, there are some big additions — particularly to the Franchise game mode and the new FieldSENSE feature — that make it the best-feel game of the Madden series.

Madden 23 players report unrealistic number of interceptions

However, recently, many Madden 23 players are reporting an issue where they are getting very high or unrealistic number of interceptions during games (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9).

Madden 23 has made some much-needed improvements to defense mechanics this year. But players have taken to various platforms to complain about the high number of interceptions in the game.

This issue seems to be affecting defensive players in the game as they tend to intercept the ball an incredibly high number of times even in a 50-50 duel.

Some say even after turning the interceptions and pass reaction slider for CPU to 0 they are still getting picked 5 to 9 times a game.

Anybody else notice that the CPU quarterbacks are throwing a crazy amount of interceptions each game? In my franchise I’m averaging like 3-5 INTs per game…
It absolutely kills the immersion and makes even All-Madden difficulty way too easy. Even with the INT slider down to 0, nothing helps
This needs a patch ASAP! Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The issue is the CPU interception slider doesn’t do much like it did in the old games. Im not great at the game but normally play on all pro and I’ll throw maybe 10-15 pics a season. With this year even with the CPU sliders turned to 0 I’m still throwing 3-4 a game now. I know people say just get better. True yes but also just let the slider make more of a difference

This doesn’t bode well for a game developer like EA Sports which prides itself in giving players the best immersive and realistic experience for any sport out there.

Potential workaround

Unfortunately, EA is yet to officially acknowledge this issue. In the meantime, there is a potential workaround that involves turning off Ballhawk, Heat Seeker, and Auto Strafe for all teams in your franchise:

If the aforementioned workaround helped fix the interception issues, do let us know in the comments down below. Also, we will be updating this space once the problem is resolved so stay tuned for more information.

Update 1 (September 01, 2022)

06:33 pm (IST): A Redditor pointed out that once you find a few plays that beat it, you can keep using the same steps over and over again. However, the game slowly loses its charm if you keep repeating the same thing.

not trying to brag, but the CPU is just a CPU, when you figure out what works you’ll start to beat it all the time. Even on the highest difficulty I can stick to the same 5 or 6 plays and win every time. On ‘Rookie’ mode I can select only 3 different plays and cycle through them and win by more than 21 points every time. (Source)

Update 2 (September 06, 2022)

05:46 pm (IST): A Redditor has suggested that players should try turning off Ball Hawk in game settings as a potential workaround for this issue. Hence, you can give it a try and see if it helps.

Update 3 (September 07, 2022)

11:04 am (IST): One of our readers has suggested a workaround that might help you resolve this issue. You can check it out below.

I might have found the solution !!!

– Make the slider HIGHER!

– 0/100 = INTERCEPTION PARTY.

– 50/100 = offense BETTER at avoiding INT

– Same thing for fumbles… 0/100 was a fumble fest when I tried it… That’s what “told me” it might be the same thing for INTs!

Thanks for the tip: Dominique Lefty LeDuc!

03:33 pm (IST): According to a Redditor, Madden 23 gamers who play Face of the Franchise mode are even more affected by this bug as there are no sliders to tweak the difficulty.

Hence, they are desperately waiting for a fix. However, EA hasn’t yet acknowledged the problem.

Update 4 (September 09, 2022)

06:03 pm (IST): A new title update for Madden NFL 23 has been released. However, it does not mention any fix for the unrealistic interceptions.
