Wyze 'grayed out playback button' bug to be fixed with upcoming update, confirms support

Wyze is one of the most popular wireless camera manufacturers. It also specializes in other smart home products like smart bulbs, plugs, air purifiers and so on.

The start-up was formed by ex-Amazon employees in 2017. The company also offers a monthly subscription service for some of its products.

But over the past few days, some users have been reporting that the playback button in the official Wyze app is grayed out, unusable and not working.

I’m having the exact same prob with SD playback on events. V3, current firmware, worked the other day but not now on any of my 4 cameras. This is a huge issue.

I have the same issue. The payback is grey out and I only I see the event picture which is useless.

While users seem confused whether it’s an issue with the app or their SD card, Wyze has confirmed that it is indeed an issue with their application.

A member of the Wyze team mentioned that they are working on a fix and it is already being tested in the beta version. It will be addressed with the upcoming app update.

That said, those having issues can try switching to the latest beta version for a temporary workaround, at least until the fix hits the stable channel.

For all participating in this discussion, this problem is a confirmed bug that Wyze has acknowledged and has scheduled for a fix in the next app release which is currently in the final rounds of RC Beta Testing and was released to the Beta Testers on Wednesday.
