Sky: Children of the Light is a puzzle-adventure game developed and published by Thatgamecompany. It was initially released on iOS in 2019 followed by an Android and Nintendo Switch version.

The game lets players solve mysteries, help others and create enjoyable memories in an animated kingdom. Sky: Children of the Light’s Shard Event rewards players with ascended candles upon completing the event.

However, many players (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) are reporting an issue where the Sky: Children of the Light’s Shard Event is not dropping wax or light.

Moreover, found remnants should usually drop wax and candles after cleansing the darkness around a shattering shard. But that’s not currently happening for many Nintendo Switch and iOS users.

I just did today’s shard event. I burnt al of it, got the cut scene that i finished it but i didn’t get any Light. It’s the first time i did it today so i don’t understand what went wrong.( not my first shard event but just today’s event)

While we love the hard work sky crew does. On switch, shard event is not dropping wax/candles. Ran it twice to see it wasn’t a my end issue and got nothing both times.

However, it seems that the Shard Event is functioning fine for most Android users since the bugged v0.18.5 update isn’t available yet. So players can play the game on an Android phone as a temporary workaround for the time being.

At least my non-updated android phone is allowing me to collect wax from the shard-burning, which is more than my Switch is doing.

Fortunately, the developers are indeed aware of the problem and even listed the issue in the known issues page after the new v0.18.5 patch.

Switch, iOS, and Huawei users are unable to collect light during Eruptions in Forest Temple.

As we mentioned earlier, the bug seems to be affecting Switch and iOS users primarily but for some odd reason, Huawei users are affected too.

That said, we’ll update the article as and when there are any further developments regarding the Shard event not dropping wax/light or candles.
