Razer Synapse audio issues (THX spatial not working, sound delay, unbalanced volume & echo) trouble many
Razer is one of the best known names in the gaming segment. The company offers a wide catalog of laptops, desktop PCs, peripherals and accessories for gamers.
The company offers gaming headphones that seek to achieve the most immersive experience possible. These types of headphones usually offer multichannel sound to be aware of everything that happens during the matches.
Razer headphones users can connect, make tweaks and update them through the Synapse tool. However, it seems that for a while now many Razer headphones users have been facing multiple audio issues related to Synapse.
Razer audio headphones and sound cards experiencing Synapse related issues
Razer Synapse THX spatial audio effects not working
According to reports, Razer audio products have been dealing with multiple issues for several weeks (or even months).
For instance, the most recurring issue is related to the Razer THX spatial audio system which is not working correctly for many.
In some cases, THX spatial audio effects simply become unavailable to Razer headset users.
In other cases, Synapse stops detecting the THX Spatial audio license purchased by the user.
THX SPATIAL AUDIO not working, cannot log in
Hi! I have my Kraken Tournament edition headset for almost two years. Recently, my PC had been redone so I had to redownload Synapse and THX Spatial. I did activate my code before and it was working well…
…but now, I cannot use the THX spatial and it wants me to buy it again. I can log in to Synapse but surround sound isn’t working, which is far less than ideal in fps shooting games.
Razer audio products causing sound delay
In addition to headphones, Razer also offers sound cards among its audio products. These seek to offer an enhanced surround audio experience in whatever type of headphones you use.
That said, reports indicate that both Razer headphones and sound cards are causing audio delay in certain usage scenarios (such as when using Discord).
Blackshark v2 (or usb sound card) causes audio delays when using Discord
Hello there, I have this weird problem with my Razer Blackshark V2 headsets or with Razer USB Sound Card. Whenever I’m using Discord the voice chat audio is delayed, cuts off or speeds up. It’s hard to describe, but I see my friend’s icon lights up when he is saying something, but one of the following things happens:
– his audio is delayed for a few seconds, in some cases it’s 2 or 3 seconds in other cases it’s 20 seconds,
– delayed voice audio then is delivered with x2 or x3 speed
– delayed voice audio is simply lost
Echo through the Razer headphones microphone
Also, Razer Synapse is not correctly recognizing settings made by players, which causes issues such as a noticeable microphone echo during games.
Unbalanced or uneven volume after a Razer Synapse update
There are reports of unbalanced or uneven volume between both sides of the Razer headphones after a Synapse update.
Razer usb soundcard firmware issue
I have Razer blackshark v2. I am using it with sound card. It had an issue that left ear cup sound was lesser than right earcup. But it was rectified after firmware update. But now after every synapse update its firmware upgrade is lost. And again I need to install the firmware update. Is anyone else facing this issue?
Razer Synapse related audio issues reportedly present for months
Some suggest reports that the audio issues have been around for months, and may have started since the Razer Synapse v3.6.0415.040812 update.
But, some more recent reports indicate that the audio issues are still present, even though a more recent Razer Synapse update (v3.7.731.72516) is available.
There is no official acknowledgment of the audio issue from the Razer team yet. However, there is a workaround for users facing the unbalanced or uneven volume bug:
don’t really know about a firmware issue, but on my v2 I have to make sure not to turn the volume knob all the way to 100 because that introduces the uneven audio. Leaving the knob at like 99% balances the audio back out.
We will update this story as new developments emerge.
