Ebay is one of the most popular e-commerce platforms. It is present in multiple countries around the world and used by millions of people daily.
Ebay allows its users to both buy and sell. Through the platform, you can find publications with fixed prices and auctions.
You can access Ebay from a web browser or from mobile apps (Android and iOS). But, currently many Ebay app users are facing an issue where the product description is missing or unavailable from the product pages.
Ebay product description missing or unavailable from the mobile app
Many Ebay app users report not being able to access the product description in the product pages. This issue is quite serious in a commercial platform, since users must be clear about what they are buying.

@eBay where are the item descriptions on our items? I have an iPhone and the descriptions are gone. I’m being flooding with messages asking about condition. Do better. Why do you make everything worse with each update?

Tonight ebay broke both their Android and iOS apps so they no longer show sellers’ descriptions of their items. This is going to lead to a lot of returns, bad feedback and other claims.

The bug can affect both buyers and sellers. After all, many are avoiding making purchases until they can see the entire product description.

Here’s the official word (and a potential workaround)
It seems that the origin of the problem comes from certain tweaks that Ebay team is making to the app UI.
According to the company, they are testing a UI where users have to tap on the product title to see the product description.
We appreciate you sharing the feedback on this experience. The description is still available on the listing in mobile devices. You will want to tap the title to pull it up. We’re experimenting on the impact of the changes to the usability and appreciate your understanding. ~Mark

However, it appears that the change ‘broke’ the iOS app, as iPhone users cannot see the description even after tapping on the product title. On the other hand, Android users should be able to see the description by doing that.
I see. I tested on Android but realize you have an iphone. We’ll forward this experience to our mobile teams for further review. We appreciate you sharing this experience. ~Mark Y

So, now the Ebay team is working on a fix for the issue, but there is no ETA yet. According to reports, the problem came with the latest Ebay app update (Ebay v6.68.0.3094):

Until the fix arrives, iOS users can access the Ebay website, where everything seems to work correctly. But, after accessing Ebay through Safari, they will have to request the ‘desktop website version’:
The only work-around I could find is to use the desktop site. To access via Safari: go to the search/web address bar, tap the aA icon, and select Request Desktop Website. It’s annoying but will work until they get it fixed.
