TikTok recently rolled out a repost button that allows sharing videos from other users. It helps with reposting videos of other users in a convenient manner.

It is quite similar to the repost option on Instagram as well as the retweet option on Twitter.

With TikTok’s repost feature, people will be able to share videos and content with all their followers without having the shared video appear on their profile.

It’s a hassle free feature which saves you from the tiring process of duet and ripping someone else’s video.

Here’s how reposting on TikTok is done

  • On TikTok Home screen, go to ‘For You’ page.
  • Now, on the share arrow button of any post, ‘repost’ button will appear.
  • Tap on it and your followers will be able to see the video.
  • A small tab will also appear asking you to fill in why you want to share the video.

It might look similar to Instagram and Twitter sharing option but there are still a few distinctions.

The shared video will not appear on your profile but your followers will still be able to watch it.

The video will only appear on the ‘For You’ page, not on the friends’ page.

What does it exactly do?

TikTok already lets its users share videos either with individual friends or in a group chat.

With the introduction of the repost feature, users now have the liberty of sharing videos to all of their followers.

The shared video will also let you share content with your followers while crediting the person who originally created it.

Apart from the ease of sharing functionality of videos on TikTok, some users found it hard to get the hold of it.

Because of the location of the button, it’s causing trouble for some as sometimes they don’t intend on clicking the button which prompts sharing.

While a user on Twitter complained in the following way:

Nonetheless, even if someone has accidentally shared some videos, the process can easily be reversed.
