YouTube profile picture (DP) & banner grayed out or blank for many, issue gets acknowledged

Founded in February of 2005, YouTube happens to be the second most used search engine on the internet, generating more search results compared to Bing, Yahoo, AOL, and Ask combined.

With users crossing the 1 billion watch hours threshold every day, the platform is used by almost a quarter of Earth’s population.

That said, YouTube users seem to be facing a new issue where the profile picture (also known as display picture) and banner are grayed out or blank for many (1,2,3,4,5).

It is interesting to note that the profile picture loads completely fine outside of YouTube. For some, the banners are grayed out as well.

Being unable to view their profile picture and channel banner is indeed frustrating. Some have tried changing their display picture but even the new one grayed out as well.

I guess it has been a recent problem, absolutely no banners and avatars are visible in YouTube, no matter if mine or others’, though video thumbnails load just fine. I obviously have tried some guides I found here and there before making this post, but to no avail; I should note, however, that I can see my profile picture outside of YouTube, and everything expected loads on my phone, so I presume this is strictly a YouTube-related problem on my PC, but I’m still tempted to ask if there is a way to fix this problem. It’s as if they can’t load, which really irritates me. Any help is appreciated.

My profile picture suddenly won’t show up when you search my name on YouTube or look at a video thumbnail. I’m not sure why but since an hour ago my profile picture suddenly got greyed out and now it won’t show up when you search up my name and it doesn’t show up even on my videos if you were to find them in the search bar or recommend tab. Does anybody know what to do? I’ve updated the picture already but the problem is persisting.

Thankfully, YouTube developers commented on the issue where the display picture is not showing for some and said they are working on a fix for the same.

However, they did not share any timeframe of when the fix will be deployed.
