If you happen to browse the internet, chances are pretty high you must have heard about Reddit. Founded in June of 2005, it is a news aggregation and discussion website where people can find anything and everything.

Registered users can post content in the form of images, text, and videos with others having the option to upvote or downvote them.

reddit android app

With more than 52 million daily active users, it is one of the most popular social media platforms on the planet.

Unsurprisingly, the website has an app for both Android and iOS. That said, there are reports from multiple Android users on different devices that a horizontal gray line appears when using the app (1,2,3).

It can be clearly seen when browsing the comment section. Since the line appears only when the Reddit Android app is in use, it is highly likely the problem is with the app itself.

There is a horizontal line when I access the chat to view comments. Doesn’t appear when scrolling through posts. Thought it was a bad pixel but only happens in reddit while viewing comments from a post.

Hello, I’m seeing this back horizontal line (1 or 2 px height) towards the top of screen when I open Reddit app on Android. Verified with many other apps and I’m pretty sure this is specific to Reddit. It was captured even in the screenshot. Starting to annoy me, is this a wider issue and does it have a quick fix?

Many suggest the problem surfaced after the June 30 app update, with most reports dating back a week. But then the July 6 update changelog says nothing about the glitch, indicating Reddit developers might be unaware of the problem.

It looks like some top border moves along the screen in the comment section since the line is not visible when viewing the feed.

While this is not making the app unusable, we hope they find out the root cause of the problem since it is really distracting. Let’s hope they soon release an update that fixes the issue.

As always, we will be keeping tabs on further developments on the problem and update this space as and when we have new information to share so make sure you stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
