Currently, the Premier League is considered the best football league. Millions of users around the world wait each season to support their favorite team match after match.

As with other sports and leagues, the Premier League offers its own official ‘Fantasy’ service.

For those who don’t know, a ‘Fantasy’ allows fans to create teams with their favorite players. Then, they will earn points according to the real-life performance of the chosen players during each match of the season.

That said, the official Fantasy Premier League (FPL) app has been crashing, freezing or not working after a recent update.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) app crashing, freezing and more issues

According to multiple reports, many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) app users are unable to use it due to multiple issues.

There are reports of freezing, empty lineups and even a ‘401 error’ in the Fantasy Premier League app.

help with error 401

Every time I go onto the app and press on fantasy to make my team for this season it just says “server error 401” with a retry button. Does anyone know what I can do about this?

App fantasy not working

Is anyone else having the issue of getting to the squad selector, clicking on a position and having nothing show up?

For many other users, the app is also crashing, either when trying to access it or when trying to select options.

Why can’t I create my team ? Every time I get in the app and try create no players are there and then I get kicked from the app

The latest FPL update brought the issues

Many reports agree that the problems started after the most recent Fantasy Premier League (FPL) app update, which has been available for a few hours.

@OfficialFPL I don’t know if it’s just an issue with my app, but I updated the app today and it just boots me out when I select the fantasy tab?

@OfficialFPL so just updated app as requested, on both phone and iPad- and now the app won’t stay open. Just keeps shutting down.

A couple of potential workarounds

There is no official acknowledgment on the issue from FPL developers. But, there are a couple of workarounds you can try if you are experiencing problems.

First, some users report that the complete uninstall and reinstall of the app worked as a fix.

I had to uninstall app and download again then worked fine

In case the first workaround doesn’t work for you, it looks like the Fantasy Premier League isn’t showing any issues via the official website. So, you can temporarily access from a browser.

Had to do it via the website last night, app not working at all!

We will update this story as events unfold.
