New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on May 17, 2021) follows:

The Apple iPhone 12 series came out last year and all its devices support 5G connectivity. Network service providers like T-Mobile offer 5G network coverage for the iPhone 12 series.

This means the T-Mobile iPhone 12 series devices and unlocked iPhone 12 series devices can have 5G network access in areas where T-Mobile 5G is available.

However, Google Fi users have been waiting for the 5G network support to arrive on their iPhone 12 series devices.

While users of the iPhone 12 series are getting 5G coverage from T-Mobile, Google Fi, which uses T-Mobile’s network for its services, does not support 5G coverage on the latest iPhone series.

To recall, Google issued a statement to 9to5Google last year stating that it is working to resolve the said issue.

However, it has been almost six months and the tech giant has still not provided any clarity on the matter.

Also, the Google Fi help page still outlines that the latest iPhone series is not supported by Fi’s 5G coverage.

The case is same with the Google Fi compatibility page for the iPhone 12 series. Moreover, there are a bunch of threads about this issue on the Google Support community.

Most Fi subscribers have been blaming Google for this problem and the responses from community experts are simply not satisfying them. Furthermore, most Google Community threads on the matter have been locked due to reasons unknown.

This is certainly a deal breaker for Google Fi subscribers as there is no point in using a service which has compatibility issues with a compatible device.

Whether the issue needs to be addressed by Google or Apple remains unclear but it has definitely been causing inconvenience to regular users for quite some time now.

Hopefully, the tech giants provide some clarity on the matter soon or resolve it altogether as the burden of providing services falls on vendors and not consumers.

That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will update this story as and when new details emerge.

Update 1 (July 7, 2022)

06:18 pm (IST): After many months, Google Fi 5G network remains exclusively for Android phones, although many iPhone users demand the implementation of 5G support.

The Google Fi support team confirms that they are aware of the requests. However, there is still no information about a timeline for the Google Fi 5G implementation on iPhones.
