The Google Nest lineup is made up of Smart Home products that make it easy for its users to control multiple elements in the home. These devices also allow you to set up a home security system easily.

Google Nest Camera and Doorbell are two of the series of products that allow enhancing home security.

For instance, Nest Doorbell integrates a camera whose image you can receive on another Smart device with a screen (connected to the same network). In this way, you will clearly know who is ringing the doorbell.

Meanwhile, Google Nest Camera allows you to keep an eye on key areas. It integrates special features such as ‘unknown people detection’ and more.

However, currently some Google Nest Camera and Doorbell users are facing an issue where notifications are missing or they devices are not ringing.

Google Nest Doorbell not ringing or chiming

For some users, their Google Nest Doorbell devices are no longer ringing or chiming.

There are cases where the Nest Doorbell stops ringing in all conditions, while in others it only stops ringing in some locations (like indoors).

Google Nest Doorbell (battery) doesn’t chime indoors

I recently installed a new modem and had to reset all of my devices. Previously, the Google Nest Doorbell (battery) was able to chime on my electric chime indoors. I have set up the doorbell 5 times so far. The last attempt allowed a single chime on the electric chime. Every attempt has left me with the settings for this to be grayed out in the app.

Google Nest Doorbell and Camera missing notifications

Meanwhile, other users are suddenly stopping receiving notifications from their Google Nest Camera and Doorbell devices for no apparent reason.

Apparently, the ‘trigger’ for this issue is migrating from the Nest App to the Google Home App, or the complete reinstallation of the camera and doorbell system.

No Push Notifications

Hello, our family has migrated from the Nest App to the Google Home App, now we’re no longer receiving push notifications for activity, even though activity events are identified correctly in the Google Home App. We are however able to still get push notifications from the Nest App, but only for our older devices that are supported via both the Nest App and the Google Home App. The newer camera devices currently sold on the Google store are not supported via the Nest App.

Doorbell

We had to change our router and I had to remove my cameras and reinstall them. Now I can’t get notifications on. I’ve set up zones but no matter what I try no joy. I have a nest aware account. Can anyone help.

Potential workaround

There is no official acknowledgment yet for any of these issues from the Nest team. In the meantime, there is a potential workaround that involves adjusting device zones and disabling/enabling notifications:
