Skype is one of the most popular telecommunications services. The software (owned by Microsoft) focuses on VoIP calls and video calls, although it is also compatible with text chat.
Skype is available on both PCs and mobile devices through dedicated clients and apps. But, it seems that an annoying bug in the iOS app is frustrating many users.
According to multiple reports, Skype iOS app is making the user phone rings when sending or receiving text messages. Also, some are receiving calls from blocked numbers.
Phone rings when receiving text messages on Skype iOS app
Currently, the Skype iOS app is experiencing severe issues with notifications and ringing. First, the app is making phone rings even when receiving a call from a blocked number.
Also, when the Skype iOS app receives a message (text), the phone rings as if it were receiving a video or voice call. This issue occurs even if the phone is set to ‘Silence’ or ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode.
Skype is ringing (call-tone) on my iPhone every time a Skype TEXT message is received – saying “Blocked – Skype Audio”
Skype is ringing (call-tone) on my iPhone every time a TEXT message is received saying “Blocked – Skype Audio…” I have tried signing out of the app on my phone, installing updates, restarting my phone, turning off ALL notifications in settings, etc. It is bypassing all disabling of notifications on both Skype and iPhone settings, Skype status on dnd, etc. It is beyond frustrating. Please help!

It appears that the bug is causing the Skype iOS app to bypass all user locks and settings, treating text messages as incoming calls and allowing calls from blocked numbers.
Skype – Problems with notifications on my Phone (Apple device)
Hello,
I am having problems with my phone app for Skype. Every time someone messages me in Skype, my phone rings like i receive an incoming phone call for 2-3 seconds. This is every single time. I have turned off notifications for the application but i continue to receive those messages like incoming calls. My status is do not disturb, not helping as well.

Microsoft is allegedly aware
A moderator on the Microsoft support forums says the company is already aware of the issue. However, there are no details on an ETA for a possible fix yet.
This is a known issue with the latest Skype version installed on iPhone phones, and was already reported by several users.
Similar reports are also available on non-English Community sites. Microsoft is already informed about this issue, and hopefully will provide a fix.
