Modern iPhones already have great speakers. They are one of the best devices for media consumption and calling purposes. However, nothing is perfect and you can still improve your iPhone sound quality.
While iOS isn’t really a customisation-friendly operating system, there are still some features that can be incredibly useful. Here are a few ways you can tweak certain iOS settings or use simple life hacks to make your iPhone sound better.
Experiment with Equalisation presets
Yes, EQ presets exist in iOS. Here’s how you can find them:
Settings > Music > EQ
Once you’re in the EQ settings, you can choose various presets that slightly modify your audio output and make your phone sound a little different.
We know sound quality is completely subjective so we suggest testing out all of these presets and choosing the one that you like the most.
Boost your iPhone’s max volume
There are times when the video or the song that you’re listening is just not loud enough even on max volume.
This is where you can use the Late Night preset in the EQ to bump up the max audio output of your iPhone. I tested it on my phone and actually felt a noticeable difference.
Headphones Accommodations
This feature in iOS lets you customise the audio of your Apple AirPods and some other beats headphones. Here, you can tune the audio for a balanced tone, vocal range or brightness.
You can even change the audio output to different modes like Slight, Moderate and Strong.
Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Headphones Accommodations
Headphone safety
This feature is those who have headphones that tend to get way too loud at times. To save your ear drums in the long run, you can use the Headphone safety feature on iOS.
It helps you put a limit onto your maximum audio levels and reduce your headphone’s overall loudness.
Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone safety
Clean the speaker
This one is pretty obvious but heavily neglected by most iPhone users. It involves taking a brush and cleaning the speakers of your phone. The dirt stuck in your speaker grill could be blocking a lot of the sound.
Also, its just a healthy practice to clean the things you use the most. I will spend some time cleaning my speakers today and ask you to do the same.
