Here's a potential fix for Instagram 'Stories keep playing from beginning' glitch

Owned by Meta, Instagram is one of the largest social media platforms in the world. Founded in 2010, the service has seen tremendous growth in the last few years and is now the 7th most visited website on the internet.

That said, Instagram seems to have taken inspiration from Snapchat and introduced a Stories feature a while ago where users can share pictures and videos that become unavailable after some time.

However, in the last couple of months, users have complained about problems such as the platform asking for birthday information and filters not showing or saying ‘This effect is not available in your location’.

And now, Instagram users are reporting that Stories keep playing from the beginning. Those affected by the problem are annoyed and wondering why this is happening.

Some have tried re-logging into their accounts but that isn’t making any difference. A bunch of users say they are on the verge of uninstalling the app because of the bug.

Anybody have problems with watching Instagram stories? I’ll watch through someone’s story, then when they add something to it, it’ll make me watch the beginning of the story again, stuff that I’ve already seen again. Been doing that for a couple of days now.

What is happening with @instagram stories? every time ppl upload a new story, I have to rewatch them all again, before I see the new story? at first I thought it was just a lil’ glitch, but I heard a random girl talk about it in a café.. what’s the point tho? #InstagramStory

Unfortunately, Instagram developers are yet to comment on the matter, let alone work on a fix. However, we did come across a potential workaround that might help fix the problem.

It requires users to forcibly update the app via their device’s preferred app store.

But others say updating the app to the latest version screwed up their Instagram Stories.

I wasn’t experiencing the Instagram stories glitch, but I heard it was due to needing the latest app update. So I went ahead and did that… NOW my stories are all screwed up. Go figure.

We hope Instagram developers soon take a look at the issue where Stories are playing from the beginning for some and fix it at the earliest. When they do, we will be updating this space to reflect the same so stay tuned.
