League of Legends: Wild Rift seeks to offer a competitive experience very similar to that of the original PC game. However, there are some changes to adapt the controls to touch screens.

Wild Rift is constantly supported by the developers. After all, a competitive game needs characters to be balanced and bugs or exploits to be fixed as soon as possible.

Recently, League of Legends: Wild Rift received an update that should be routine. However, instead of just offering bug fixes, it brought notable performance issues (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).

More specifically, the latest League of Legends: Wild Rift patch causes noticeable FPS drops during matches, and general interface lag .

According to multiple reports, Wild Rift is currently virtually unplayable due to noticeable performance issues after the latest update.


Performance drops are reportedly so severe that the game hovers between 10 and 15 FPS at times.

It runs wild rift smooth with 60fps, but when it drops below 11%, the game becomes basically unplayable

Fps hit max 30, but drop constantly to 10-4.

Android. Normally I run Wild Rift with 15 fps. Right now I can’t even matchmake…nor select pvp option. Its utterly messed up.

Some players also experience high ping issues

For some players, the update even brought an issue where the ping goes up uncontrollably during matches. This notably affects the gameplay due to the delay it causes in the executed actions.

Android. But not only the FPS drop as you mentioned. When I play with mobile data (4G) my MS increases, like from 45/60 to 250/999 for example.
(It’s only happening with Wild Rift more often after the update. I don’t seem to have this issue with other games.)

This game is unplayable randoms jump from 70ms to 170ms then 999ma this is so stupid I don’t even know how people play with this issue because this is unplayable.

The possible cause of the problem, official acknowledgment

Some players report that the update causes the game to consume excessive hardware resources. This results in the chipset applying thermal throttling to prevent high temperatures, thus decreasing performance.

Also the problem is caused by high cpu usage (100% of my snapdragon 888 is used by wild rift when the fps drop occurs) hope this helps you!

Fortunately, the Riot Games team is already aware of the issue and is investigating it. However, there are no details of an ETA for a fix yet.
