New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on April 22, 2022) follows:

Ever since its release in 2017, Fortnite has been one of the most played games on the internet. Developed and published by Epic Games, it has more than 3 million concurrent players as of January 2022.

However, since the start of Chapter 3, players have faced various issues such as the ‘Crew Legacy Set’ items not unlocking and controller vibrating constantly after leaving boat.

Adding to the trouble, many Fortnite players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that matchmaking is broken at the moment and not working on some Creative maps.

Many say they are unable to find a single match even after waiting for some time. Others are getting matched with high rank players even though they are low elo. The problem seems to have surfaced after the recent update.

Some say they tried restarting the game but that isn’t helping. Here are a few reports from Fortnite players who are unable to play Creative maps because matchmaking is broken at the moment.

For reference I’ve been playing no build, 1.55kd and level 113. I’ve noticed much harder games both on solos and duos since the update. My girlfriend is new to shooters and we normally play duos together every night. Typically we just try to finish her daily quests, and we can win a gunfight or two before getting killed in the last 2 circles. Since the update, we’ve been getting melted from the start, and it’s not been fun for her to play anymore since she can’t even get her quests done without dying.

my matchmaking is broken. When I try to get into a match it just says finding match but never lets me in. Also the ETA says N/A. I got one error message that went away before I could read it all but it said something about an update, but my game is up to date

Thankfully, Fortnite Status commented on the matter and said the developers are aware of broken matchmaking on some Creative maps. However, they did not share any ETA on when the problem will be resolved.

We are investigating an issue preventing players from matchmaking into public games on some Creative maps. Private matches should be unaffected. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information.
