[Update: Remote pairing issues] Amazon Fire TV Stick stuck on logo (unable to log in), remote not working, & apps not loading for some users

The Amazon Fire TV Stick series is one of the most popular for streaming multimedia content. However, recently, some of its users are having serious issues with their dongles.
According to multiple reports, a recent update would have started to generate all kinds of adverse effects on the Amazon Fire TV Stick system.
Reports from affected users mainly focus on three big issues: Amazon Fire TV Stick stuck on logo while trying to log in, remote control not working and apps not loading/getting stuck.

Reports related to this problem indicate that affected users would not be able to log in to their Amazon accounts. Basically, they would get stuck on the logo or the log in screen (1, 2, 3).
I am having troubling logging in to Fire TV Stick account. I select the password, then I key in the characters as per screen, however when click on next nothing happens.

Curiously, one of the reports indicates that the problem occurs on the TV at home, but the log in process could be completed on a friend’s TV:

Remote control not working
Another problem reported (1, 2, 3) is that the remote control no longer wants to work. According to reports, the TV Stick would be getting stuck while searching for the remote control:
So my Fire TV Stick remove is stuck on searching for remote! I have changed to new batteries, held the home button for 10 min, and did the unplug the remote hold all 3 buttons and put batteries back in and all that and still nothing! Is there anything else I can do? How do I get a new remote, this is very frustrating please help!

Affected users indicate that they have had to use alternative methods to control the device, such as voice commands from Alexa or the Fire TV remote app.

Apps not loading (getting stuck)
The other big problem reported by users is that certain apps are getting stuck or not loading (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11)
I can’t get the ESPN app to load on my firestick 4k. The app never loads- it just times out. I have cleared my cache, cleared my data, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app, and restarted my firestick several times but it still won’t load. I have ESPN through my cable provider but can’t even get into the app.

The update you should avoid: Fire OS 6.2.8.1
Amazon has not yet officially commented on these reports. However, affected users suspect that the problems came with the latest system update.
According to some reports, the problems started after installing the Fire OS 6.2.8.1 (NS6281/4054) update. Therefore, if you receive it, the best thing to do for now is to avoid installing it.
After recent update ( Fire OS 6.2.8.1, NS6281/4054 ), ESPN app is not loading at all. It is stuck at the init screen for ever.

10:34 am (IST): An Amazon Staff has since come out to note that there might be a few workarounds worth exploring for affected persons.

01:12 pm (IST): Many users are now reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) an issue where they are unable to pair Fire TV Stick remote.
Fortunately, an Amazon staff member has acknowledged this bug and said that they have escalated it to the team for further investigation.
