Earlier this year, Samsung updated its flagship lineup with the launch of the S22 series. Unveiled at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked in February, the S22 series features three phones – the S22, S22 Plus, and the S22 Ultra.

All models in the S22 series use the Gorilla Glass Victus. While the African and European variants of the phone use the Exynos 2200, the models outside the aforementioned regions are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

But as is the case with the majority of smartphones, issues such as camera shutter lag and abnormal battery drain have negatively affected the user experience for some.

That said, Samsung Galaxy S22 users are now reporting issues with keyboard swipe or glide typing (1,2,3,4,5). Many say the keyboard has been picking up wrong words, missing others, and sometimes goes haywire.

Some initially thought it was their screen protector at fault and have tried changing it while others say they tried turning off and back on the touch sensitivity option but to no avail.

The problem seems to be frustrating many Samsung Galaxy S22 users who rely on keyboard swipes to complete their words.

I use Gboard with glide typing, which was working fine when I first got the phone. The April update broke it (would end words before my finger was lifted constantly, and there are many reports of other users with the same issue). The may update was supposed to fix it, but after using it for a few days, it’s still a problem. It’s better than it was on the April update, but not back to normal, and still lifts between words making it difficult to glide type properly.

Howdy – I woke up this morning with a software update indicator on my phone… I of course like usual said OK and did the update not thinking anything of it. Since then I have noticed a very bad change in the reliability of the Google Keyboard using swipe to text. It is constantly grabbing words I didn’t type, missing words I’m going right over, and just acting crazy..! Has anyone else received an update today or yesterday (etc) and having similar result?

While there is no official word on the matter, a user said they sent multiple error reports to Samsung who allegedly told them that the Galaxy S22 keyboard swipe issue will be fixed in the next update.

I sent a couple of error reports to Samsung And they have said it will be fixed in the next update. Fingers crossed

We hope Samsung developers soon find out the root cause of the problem and fix it in the coming days since the issue has ruined the typing experience for many.

Rest assured, we will be keeping tabs on the matter and update this space when the issue is resolved so stay tuned.
