Apex Legends is a game developed by Respawn Entertainment (creators of the Titanfall saga) and distributed by Electronic Arts.

Apex Legends is an interesting battle-royale game set in the universe of the Titanfall franchise. It combines a first person camera (FPS) with hero-shooter touches to stand out from the rest.

Like other battle-royale games, Apex Legends is also available as a free-to-play. So, you can start playing and progress without spending anything.

However, currently many players on PC are facing an issue that prevents them from accessing the game. More specifically, Apex Legends is crashing on PC and players are getting a ‘DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG’ error.

dxgi error device hung

Have had this crash report happen nearly every time I play and it’s so irritating. So many of my friends have had this problem and stopped playing because of it and there is no clear fix on this. I’ve played since season 1 and I’m just thinking about leaving this game cause it’s affecting me when i play ranked and just demote over and over whenever I crash. Please need this fixed.

The problem does not only appear when trying to access the game. Some players have experienced crashing even in the middle of matches, getting kicked out and receiving an abandonment penalty.

Tonight, it happened 3 consecutive times midgame. I loaded back in twice only to be kicked out after the third time, lost RP, and got the 10 min penalty for abandoning match. Keep getting the same error message at random times in the game.

Developers already aware, fix in development

The development team is already aware of the crashing issue that many Apex Legends players are experiencing.

Hi there Barrold, apologies for the delay, I will be assisting you today. I am sorry to hear you are getting the DXGI error since the new season has started. We are aware of the issue and working with Nvidia to get this resolved as quickly as possible.(1/3) -Dom

The problem seems to be related to NVIDIA GPU drivers. So, EA is currently working directly with NVIDIA to develop a fix as soon as possible.

But, there are no details of an ETA for a fix yet. We will update this story once there are new developments on the matter.
