League of Legends: Wild Rift 'Welcome Event' message confuses some players, here's the official word

League of Legends: Wild Rift arrived in October 2020 to bring the experience of Riot Games’ successful MOBA to mobile devices and tablets.

Wild Rift seeks to offer almost all the gameplay mechanics of the original game, but adapted to the particular characteristics of touch screens.

Like the main game, League of Legends: Wild Rift receives new content constantly. The novelties can be items, skins, characters, events and more.

That said, currently many League of Legends: Wild Rift players are receiving a ‘Welcome Event’ message, but the event in question is not anywhere, which is confusing (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

According to multiple reports, Wild Rift players are receiving a ‘Welcome’ mission or event. Also, they are generating XP points for the event when playing.

However, the ‘Welcome Event’ is missing from any section of the game (1, 2, 3, 4).

“Welcome! ” mission?

I just finished playing a ranked match and for some reason at the end screen where you see your mission progression, a “Welcome!” mission appeared. I can’t seem to find it on the main menu, nor check my progression outside of the end screen. I’ve been playing Wild Rift since the beta stage and am lvl40, has anyone else seen this? Is it an actual mission or a bug?

Welcome! Event Bug?

I’m not sure if I’m being stupid here or what, but I’ve been a long time player of WR. I know there has been the Welcome! event around for a while now where you can receive the Yuumi icon along with some other things. Only recently have I begun getting the exp for this ‘event’, however there appears to be no place I can claim any of these rewards, nor do I automatically claim them upon reaching the corresponding level.

A Wild Rift Community Lead confirms that the company is aware of the issue. The Community Lead also explains that it is a bug related to a future event that is yet to come.

Apparently, Wild Rift will receive the ‘Welcome! Event’ soon, but due to a bug the notice is reaching players ahead of time. So, currently the event is not available in the game UI.

If you are a veteran WR player and you received a “Welcome! Event” message in the past few days, do not be alarmed. We were planning on releasing this event from 3.2’s launch for everyone to complete over the next two weeks.

However; this came out a bit early, so you aren’t able to see the event in the event center and claim the rewards right now. But we’re working on a fix and still tracking all your progress, so you’ll be able to claim your rewards soon!

However, the game is tracking player progress, causing them to generate XP points for that event. In this way, players will be able to claim rewards once the event is live. Some player reports confirm this:

So, for now Wild Rift players just have to wait for the event to be live to get their rewards and be able to complete all the challenges.
