Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the most successful game in the decades-old franchise. Launched in November of 2020, the title has received several updates in the form of events and DLCs.

But despite its impressive visuals, solid gameplay mechanics, and strong storyline, issues such as players being unable to see or join this year’s Ostara festival and Reda giving only one contract have ruined the experience for many.

And as if the aforementioned bugs weren’t troubling enough, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players say characters are flickering and the game is crashing on Xbox (1,2,3,4,5).

The issue seems to have surfaced after the recent TU 1.5.1 update. Common troubleshooting solutions such as restarting the console and clearing the Xbox cache seem to be making no difference.

Here are some reports from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players who are unable to play the game because of the flickering and crashing issues on Xbox.

Game constantly crashes on Series S
I am 40 hours deep in the game and it keeps crashing frequently. I already reinstalled the game from scratch. I play in quality mode. First it was raids only now it crashes during regular quests as well. It always starts with textures flickering that is when I know I have ~ 1 minute before the game crashes. This is getting so frequent I think I can’t finish the game because it just takes away all the fun. Anybody share the same issue? Any remedy for this?

Besides that and when my game is about to crash; sometimes Eivor is completely invisible. It is frustrating to get so invested into a game to only have to replay through a boss fight three or four times because the game goes completely insane and crashes. AC Valhalla is an amazing game, I just would like to play it without seeing eyes popping out of people’s heads, or going on a ghost raid because everyone is starting to flash, or having to listen non-stop screaming sounds because the game is about crash. I just hope we can get a patch soon. I really do.

Thankfully, Ubisoft Support Staff shed some light on the matter and said Assassin’s Creed Valhalla developers are already aware of the issue and that it is currently under investigation. However, there is no ETA of when it will be fixed.
