Original story (published on May 11, 2022) follows:

Kik Messenger is a free-to-use instant messaging service developed by MediaLab AI, Inc. The app was launched in 2010 and is available on both iOS as well as Android.

It uses Wi-Fi and mobile data to send and receive messages, videos, and photos amongst other things. Kik gained massive popularity because users can register and use it without sharing their email address or phone number.

Having said that, Kik users are now reporting that the service is down. Many are expressing their frustration on social media platforms like Twitter.

Down detector – a popular service that gives information about live outages – has thousands of reports indicating that Kik is indeed down.
