New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on April 15, 2022) follows:

The cryptocurrency sector has experienced a huge increase in popularity in recent years. More and more people have access to crypto assets through various means.

Cryptocurrency users have different alternatives to store them. One of those alternatives are hardware wallets, which allow them to always carry the tokens, without any other platform having access.

One of the best known companies in the hardware wallet segment is Ledger. However, currently Ledger Wallet users are facing issues when trying to add or sync their Cosmos account.

What is Ledger Wallet and Cosmos project?

Hardware wallets give users full responsibility for their crypto assets. This has the advantage that they are immune to any hacking in online wallets, but if they lose their recovery keys it will be very difficult to access their coins.

Ledger offers different products in its wallet catalog to fit the needs of each user.

On the other hand, Cosmos is one of the most interesting projects in the blockchain environment. The Cosmos project goal is to facilitate communication between separate networks by creating a ‘blockchain network’.

All blockchain projects have a coin as the basis for their financing and sustainability. For the Cosmos project, its token is ATOM.

Ledger Wallet users unable to add or sync their Cosmos accounts

That said, currently Ledger Wallet users are unable to add or sync a Cosmos account. According to reports, all they get is an ‘HTTP API 501’ error message when trying to do so.

Cannot add Cosmos (ATOM) account in Ledger Live for Nano S Plus

I’ve got a brand new Ledger Nano S Plus. Installed Ledger Live on my PC and managed to install (among others) a “Cosmos (ATOM)” app. When I try to add a “Cosmos (ATOM)” account in Ledger Live, the app is synchronizing for a lengthy while (like 20 seconds) and then errors-our with “Sorry, try again. The server could not handle your request. Please try again later or contact Ledger Support. API HTTP 501”.

@Ledger_Support is the Cosmos app broken on the new update? I can’t add Cosmos on my computer or mobile app. I’ve updated the desktop version along with the firmware. But for the life of me, it will not let me add my Cosmos account. Can somebody please tell me what’s going on?

Many cryptocurrencies allow staking, which consists of storing or ‘locking’ coins for a certain period of time to obtain rewards.

ATOM is one of the tokens that allow its holders to stake. However, the Ledger Wallet issue is also preventing users from claiming their staking rewards.

Cosmos/Atom Staking

Hi, did anyone has cosmos/atom on staking on ledger? I was trying today to claim my rewards from staking i got errors, did anyone has the same issue?
