Fortnite glitch showing Epic account name instead of console name frustrating many
Fortnite is one of the few games that has completely revolutionized the video game industry. Developed and published by Epic Games, the title pits hundreds of players against one another with the last one standing winning.
With more than 300 million registered players, Fortnite generated more than $1.1 billion in 2020, thanks to the developers frequently updating the game with new content.
But issues such as the Resistance quests not showing up or unavailable and matchmaking broken or not working on some Creative maps ruined the gameplay experience for some.
Adding to the existing list of problems, Fortnite players are now complaining that the game shows their Epic account name instead of their console name (1,2,3,4,5). The problem seems to have surfaced after the recent update.
Generic troubleshooting solutions such as reinstalling the game and relinking their Epic Games account are not helping either. Many are confused and wondering what they can do so the game shows their in-game name.

My Epic Account name shows up in matches instead of PSN Account name. Need help to revert it. Since yesterday, my Epic Account name shows up in matches instead of my PSN account name and I need to help to make it where PSN name appears in matches again. I redownloading the game and restarted the PS4 but it still shows my Epic account name.

After the update today I login to find out my Epic display name is showing in game and in the kill feed instead if my PSN name. There isn’t an option in settings to change this. Can someone fix this for me or is this a thing for everyone on console now and I just have to change my Epic display name? I made a purchase through the Playstation store yesterday that could have done something… but it didn’t change it right away my name stayed my PSN name until I logged in after the update. I’m on Playstation 4 Pro platform.

Unfortunately, Fortnite developers (Epic Games) are yet to officially comment on the issue where players are seeing their Epic account name instead of their in-game name.
We hope they figure out why this happened and fix it as soon as possible. As always, we will be keeping tabs on the problem and update this space as and when we come across more information so stay tuned.
