Valorant players complain of unfair matchmaking, no fix in sight yet

Inspired by Counter-Strike and Overwatch, Valorant is a first-person shooting game developed and published by Riot Games.

Ever since its release, the game gained massive popularity and has more than 1.5 million daily active players. It features several modes such as unrated, spike rush, deathmatch, replication, and many others.

While the game is pretty stable, frequent updates to the title often cause problems such as some players getting stuck on the loading screen and new Sova animations interfering with his skill lineups.

That said, Valorant players are now complaining about unfair matchmaking (1,2,3,4,5). Many say the algorithm is pairing low-rank players with high rank, making the game unenjoyable for them.

Players are frustrated and wondering if the matchmaking is even working or not. The unfair matchmaking seems to be demoralizing a lot of new and experienced players. Below are some reports from Valorant players complaining about unfair matchmaking.

Why cant similar ranks be matched with their rank bracket say diamond player with diamond 1-3. I just introduced few neighbors to Valorant they got bronze but gets queued with two ranks above them that is gold. why cant we have fair matchmaking…..is it so hard…jist drop the hidden mmr bullshit and just let bronze players queue with b1-b3 and note that whoever is in b1-b3 should not have silver act rank or above thats unfair. the other neighbor got diamond1 gets queued with immortal 1-3.

I may have set a record in being the first dude to derank while getting MVP in every game. Im in eternal pain. I though me winning two in a row was fire but then everything went horribly wrong. Im legit feelin like Lebron in 2017. I think its because its end of act and people arent trying/unlucky matchmaking but goddamn this been hard. I dont know where Im goin wrong either as even when I go duelist, sentinel or smoke I feel like I am fulfilling my roles. After my last two wins I started doin well and hit everything but this just an endless series of L’s

Unfortunately, we are yet to come across any official word on the unfair Valorant matchmaking issue.

We hope the developers listen to the player base and make changes to the matchmaking algorithm in the near future so players with similar skillsets are matched against one another.
