[Updated] Scribd subscribers report audiobooks not loading or working, issue acknowledged

Founded in 2007 and based out of California, Scribd is a United States-based e-book and audiobook subscription service. With more than 1 million paying subscribers, the platform is available in more than 194 countries.

The service allows users to read an unlimited number of books and audiobooks, and access news, magazines, and sheet music. However, the number of available titles is limited to a 30-day period.

And while the service is pretty stable, users do encounter technical glitches every once in a while. That said, Scribd users are now reporting an issue where audiobooks are not loading or working (1,2,3,4,5).

But it looks like textbooks are working just fine. Many say they tried restarting the app and clearing app data and cache on mobile devices but nothing seems to help with the problem. You can see in the image below the error message some users are getting when trying to listen to an audiobook.

Here are a few reports from Scribd users who say audiobooks are not working or loading for them.

I’ve been having issues with @Scribd @AskScribd audiobooks all day. Totally understand sometimes stuff gets borked, but man is my commute boring without my books!

Audiobooks not playing? Somethings gone wrong. I can’t seem to play any audiobooks? Text books work fine. Everytime I go to play, it says: something’s gone wrong. Please try restarting the scribd player or contacting support (5018.5114.8.0.2.0.500)

Subscribers are wondering when they will be able to listen to their favorite audiobooks once again.

Thankfully, Scribd Support has commented on the matter where audiobooks seem to be not working or loading for some and said they are working to fix the problem. However, there is no timeframe on when the problem will be resolved.

We hope Scribd developers soon find the reason why audiobooks are not loading for some and deploy a fix as soon as possible.
