WWE 2K22 players report game crashing when creating or editing a Superstar after 1.09 patch (workaround inside)

WWE 2K22 arrived in March of this year as the latest installment in 2K Sports’ professional wrestling game franchise.

WWE 2K22 is available on all previous and current generation Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as Windows OS devices.

Recently, WWE 2K22 received an update that should be routine, including some bug fixes and tweaks. However, it seems that the update also brought serious issues.

According to multiple reports, WWE 2K22 is experiencing a crashing issue when players are creating or editing a Superstar after the latest 1.09 patch.

WWE 2K22 Superstars editor is totally broken after 1.09 patch. The game may crash when the player finishes editing a Superstar and tries to save it (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

The crashing can also happen right after entering the creation suite and making the first selection.

Edit WWE superstar crashes game!

So I have just installed the 1.09 patch and went into the creation suite and selected edit WWE superstar. I get to the screen where I can select the superstar and once I press my selection my game crashes at the loading screen. This has happened multiple times with different characters and different user accounts. I cannot seem to edit any of the vanilla characters in the game.

Meanwhile, other players are even unable to access the editor.

Crashing Issue – Can’t Edit Superstars

Been having a issue since last patch and I’m just wondering if anybody else is having a problem. Everytime I got to edit a superstar I would change their outfit save and it would crash but now it doesn’t even make it to the editor. I click the superstar, instant crash. If anyone has words from the wise, let me know.

Apparently, editing a WWE 2K22 character works well on fighters previously created from scratch (not base/vanilla Superstars). However, it is currently impossible to create a new character without the game crashing.

Create a superstar from scratch works fine as does editing an already downloaded or created superstar. This is practically game breaking for me as I always edit and customise characters.

The issue in question prevents players from accessing certain game modes that require character creation (such as ‘MyRise mode’).

Ps5 here and I cannot even start MyRise mode as it crashes everytime I get anywhere into creating my guy and same with Universe mode, set up AEW and then things like tattoos and images do not appear on CAW’s and it crashes all the time also.

There is still no official acknowledgment on the issue from 2K. However, there is a potential workaround that reportedly helps resolve or mitigate the issue.

According to reports, the complete reinstallation of the game works as a workaround to be able to edit characters again.
