World of Warcraft (WoW) is one of the longest-running and most iconic MMORPGs in the industry. It has been available since 2004 and today maintains a strong community of players.
Blizzard Entertainment maintains ongoing support for WoW through updates and expansions. The company recently announced the new expansion that will arrive in the coming months: World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.
WoW players can get Proto-drake as a special mount after a lot of effort (and some luck). However, many players are facing issues when using those mounts in particular.
More specifically, the WoW camera behaves erratically (is not centered or is too high) when using a Proto-drake mount (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).
WoW Proto-drake mount causing camera to not be centered or too high
According to multiple reports, the WoW camera bug appears when the player uses a Proto-drake mount. The camera adopts a position that makes it very difficult to continue playing comfortably.
Protodrake Camera Bug
Is there a fix for the protodrake camera bug? If you have a mount like TLPD, flying around puts the camera way too high and the view is very distorted. Previous fixes in older versions of wow was to switch from windowed to full screen and back again but it doesn’t help this time around. There’s a couple threads on the official forums but the only advice is to use other mounts, which doesn’t actually solve anything.

Blue Proto-Drake – Camera Bug
When taking flight/flying with the Blue Proto-Drake the camera shifts upward and your character is no longer center screen but is instead lower by about ~200 pixels or so. I’ve tried it on multiple characters and the result is the same.

The WoW 9.2 patch update reportedly brought the bug
Multiple reports agree that the issue started from the most recent WoW 9.2 patch update.
Hello
After patch 9.2 I realized that when I mount my Black Proto-drake, it has a camera bug, because it is too high above the mount and this only happens with the classic Proto-drake mounts (at least the ones that I have: Black, Blue, Red, Green and Violet).

Hello,
With the recent patch it looks like the camera is no longer centering properly on flying mounts. I’ve observed that it’s in a different location for every mount. This resolves immediately upon landing on the ground but then reverts back to broken once flying.

Also, some reports suggest that the glitch does not affect all Proto-drake mounts. Below you can see which mounts are affected so far:
There is no official acknowledgment on the issue from Blizzard Entertainment yet. We will update this story once new details emerge on the matter.
