RuneScape Extinction quest bug where Seren doesn't fight & says "Stop trying to distract me" acknowledged, fix in the works

If you are into MMORPG titles, chances are pretty high you must have heard of RuneScape at some point in time. Launched in 2001, it was originally released as a browser game using and made using Java.

Developed and published by Jagex, RuneScape takes place in a fictional world called Gielinor, which is divided into different regions, cities, and kingdoms.

However, frequent updates to the game cause issues such as the Prime gaming drop giving only 20 Treasure Hunter Keys instead of 35 and high ping issues on all worlds troubling a lot of players.

Having said that, RuneScape players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that they are unable to fight with Seren during the Extinction quest. When players approach her, she says ‘stop trying to distract me’.

It looks like the problem is preventing many from completing the quest. Solutions such as restarting the game, teleporting outside, and redoing the quest are not helping either.

Below are a few reports from RuneScape players complaining about Seren not fighting in the Extinction quest.

Hoping someone can help me. I’m at the end “fight” with Seren. I’m at the final phase where there is the line of fire, the moving eggs and the replica’s of her. However something has gone wrong, I left the arena to bank and now when I go back she is just standing there next to the eggs and the fight won’t activate. If I click on her she just says “stop trying to distract me”. Has any one else experienced this? Am I missing something obvious? I’m also wondering of my needle shards are bugged-I placed them all in the markers throughout the fight, but I still seem to have one left and no where to put it.

I have reported this and am waiting for Jagex to reply, Just want to see if anyone else has this problem. I died at the 3rd stage of the Seren fight and when I came back it no longer restarted the fight when you enter the portal. The blue combat area is no longer there and Seren says to stop distracting her and the other NPC says to place Shards. There are 4 shards placed down and one in inventory with no place to place it.I can walk around the area and there is no one else around, Just Seren with eggs and the other NPC. I have relogged and updated client but still no change.

As it turns out, Jagex Support has acknowledged the fact that the RuneScape Extinction quest is bugged and said the developers are working on a fix.

In the meantime, those unable to complete the quest can try going down the lift thing and back up to see if it helps. Some say clicking on the final shard while standing next to Seren helped them complete the quest.
