OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is an open source tool widely used by streamers. It offers several features that facilitate live streaming and screen recording.
OBS received the v27.2 update recently. However, it seems that the update also brought notable performance issues.
Many OBS users report that there are freezing and crashing issues during streaming after v27.2 update. In addition to the above, some are constantly prompted to log in as OBS forgets their credentials (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

The performance issues in OBS 27.2 are serious enough to cause freezing (and even crashes) in the middle of streams.
New obs update is a little buggy guys for anyone who’s using it I would say wait on a patch as it is causing major freezing to the pc

The OBS team is already aware of this issue and they recommend downgrading to v27.1.3 as a workaround.
We’re aware of a rare system freeze affecting a small subset of users on version 27.2
If you’re encountering this issue you can downgrade back to 27.1.3 while we continue to investigate.
We’re working hard to narrow down the problem as quick as we can!

OBS 27.2 forgets the credentials of some users
Another of the problems that OBS 27.2 update brought affects the login system. It seems that the software forgets the credentials of some users and constantly asks them to log in again (1, 2, 3).
@StreamElementsS ever since the update to obs and streamelements yesterday I’m being prompted to log into my twitch account every time I want to use a command. I’ve logged out completely, logged in again, and remember comp 30 days. I’m able to stream fine.

The OBS team is also aware of this issue and recommends that users can try to clear OBS browser cookies as a potential workaround.

On Windows OS, the procedure to clear the OBS cache is as follows:
– Clearing Browser Source Cookies
Exit OBS (make sure OBS is not running)
Delete the folder %appdata%\obs-studio\plugin_config\obs-browser\obs_profile_cookies
Start OBS
Settings -> Stream -> Disconnect Account -> Connect Account– Clearing Browser Dock Cookies
Exit OBS (make sure OBS is not running)
Delete the file %appdata%\obs-studio\plugin_config\obs-browser\Cookies
Start OBS
Settings -> Stream -> Disconnect Account -> Connect Account

Update 1 (February 22)
06:49 pm (IST): OBS Studio has released a new patch (27.2.1) that comes with a fix for the system freeze issue that users reported on version 27.2.0.
OBS Studio 27.2.1 is now released! This hotfix resolves the system freeze issue that some NVIDIA users experienced in 27.2.0, as well as further performance improvements for the browser source, along with several other minor fixes. (Source)
Update 2 (April 15)
04:00 pm (IST): Many users are now reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) that OBS is crashing for them, likely after the recent update.
While the company is yet to acknowledge this issue, users have come up with some workarounds that may help mitigate it.
A workaround for the crashing issue is to revert back to the previous version. Moreover, if this doesn’t help then you can also try and update the Intel GPU driver from intel.com to prevent crashing.
