New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 17, 2021) follows:

No matter how much you hate WhatsApp, it is undoubtedly the world’s most messaging app. With more than 2 billion active users, the Meta-owned service is used in more than 180 countries worldwide.

With developers dishing out new features every few months, WhatsApp users frequently encounter some bugs and issues with the service, some of which make a bunch of features totally useless until they are fixed.

whatsapp

In July this year, the company announced that they would allow WhatsApp users to log in via multiple devices at once, something other apps such as Telegram already had for quite a while.

However, unlike Telegram, WhatsApp decided to limit the multi-device login feature to just 4 devices which is quite ironic since the feature has the word ‘multi’ in its name.

Last week, the developers seem to have rolled out the new feature to a bunch of users running the beta version of the app. But WhatsApp users are now reporting that they are unable to log in to WhatsApp web.

Hello guys, we are using whatsapp for our company. We have more than 20k chats. after being forced to connect as multice device, our connection to whatsapp desktop / web does not work anymore. It does not connect at all any more. I have a suspicion because we have a large amount of chats. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi everyone, I can’t connect to whatsapp web. Today I received a notification telling me to update whatsapp web to be able to have whatsapp online without having to be logged in from my smartphone. Since I updated the site I can’t log in anymore. The site shows the same message and keeps getting stuck there. Anyone knows what could be happening or how to solve this ?

Many are angry since the update has completely broken the functionality for those who wanted to use WhatsApp on their browsers or secondary devices.

The only workaround to the problem right now is to leave the beta testing and switch to the stable channel. While it is understandable that the Beta version will have some issues, those who switched over unknowingly are now confused and are wondering how to fix it.

Fortunately, WhatsApp developers seem to be aware of the issue. However, they did not share any ETA on when it will be fixed.

In the meantime, if you have to use WhatsApp web and have no other option, we advise you to leave the WhatsApp beta channel and join once the Web login issue is fixed for good.

As always, we will keep an eye on the matter and update this article as and when required.
