Adobe Lightroom is a popular software for processing digital images. It is especially popular with photographers (amateur and professionals).

Lightroom allows you to make deep adjustments to images through an interface full of options and possibilities.

The software is available in two versions: Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Lightroom Classic. Both are very similar in terms of functionality, but the ‘Classic’ version offers greater file organization and filtering capabilities.

Recently, Adobe Lightroom Classic received the 11.3 update with some tweaks. However, according to multiple reports, the update is causing a crashing issue.

Adobe Lightroom Classic crashing after latest 11.3 update

The most recent Adobe Lightroom Classic 11.3 update brought an issue where the software is crashing during startup. Complete uninstall and reinstall of Lightroom Classic reportedly does not help resolve the glitch.

After updating LR today from the Cloud app on my PC it now fails with an error every time I open it. I have tried updating graphic card drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled LR itself but the problem persists. Was working fine yesterday. It is now unusable as the error occurs on starting up the software. Have sent crash reports via the error popup. Urgent help requested!

In some cases, users are able to run the software. However, Adobe Lightroom Classic crashes when opening the catalog file.

I have also a crash issue after updating from 11.2 to 11.3. Crash report is submitted twice. When opening the catalog file, the app closed without any notice. I did several Optimizing, but same result. So I decided to roll back, and had to stop the CR LogTransport in Task manager. When LrC 11.2 was reinstalled, the catalog file opened normally.

I did not have the same issue on my MacBook Pro with Monterey.

Adobe is investigating the bug, potential workaround

An Adobe employee confirms that the company is aware of the issue and is investigating. As a workaround, they recommend rolling back to Lightroom Classic 11.2 version.

Setting status to Investigating

While the team evaluates the crash and advises on a workaround, it is recommended that, if you encounter this crash scenario, you revert to 11.2 via the Adobe Creative Cloud Application. In the meanwhile, make sure your email used on this forum is the email you are using when submitting the Crash Report. Thanks for your patience.
