COD: Warzone is the battle-royale alternative in the successful Call of Duty franchise. The game arrived in 2020 and is available on many consoles and platforms.

However, recently many players started receiving an SMS requiring verification of their accounts. But this is becoming an issue for many since it requires a phone number and they are not receiving the SMS (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10).

COD Warzone players aren’t receiving Battle.net verification code

According to multiple reports, many COD: Warzone players are getting an ‘Account Verification’ prompt suddenly, for no apparent reason.

For Account Verification, the player must receive a verification SMS to the phone number they registered on the Battle.net platform.

But, many players are unable to complete the verification as they are not receiving the verification code via SMS.

Unfortunately the issue isn’t logging into battlenet. Switching browsers doesn’t help. Just trying to get an SMS code sent to my phone for this security check. Any idea how long we have to wait until we can try again?

In some cases, the issue occurs because players no longer have access to the phone number they used to sign up for Battle.net many years ago.

@Blizzard_Ent my son cannot access war zone as he has changed his phone number and it is asking to verify his account with an sms to old number, wont let him change or remove the number or even create a ticket as again it asks to verify with an sms to OLD number. Help.

The issue in question seems to be affecting only COD Warzone, as it is reportedly not present on COD Vanguard.

Also, in some cases players manage to get the Battle.net verification SMS, but the issue reappears later.

I was asked to verify earlier. Would not send me a code. Went into my account and disabled SMS then re-enabled it and got a text. Signed off for maybe an 3 hours. Trying to get back on now with the same issue.

A workaround that reportedly helps

That said, there is a potential workaround that could help if you are experiencing the issue. Basically it is recommended to directly contact the Blizzard support team to remove the phone number associated with your account.

I had the same issue and I got a reply that there is a problem with it not sending codes right now. If you don’t have the old number then you can make a ticket on the support page and if you prove that the account is yours they can take the number off.

The steps to follow for the request to eliminate the phone number are shown below:

-Head to Blizzard’s support page and sign in
-If you don’t still have your old phone number, hit ‘Contact Us’
-Either use an Authenticator Code or click ‘Submit ticket with image of ID’
-Upload a clear image of your government-issued ID (you can check out what Blizzard will accept here)
-Wait for Blizzard to respond

Meanwhile, the Blizzard support team confirmed that they are already aware of the issue in question. However, there is no ETA for a fix yet.
